The day-surgery unit of our hospital is one
of the oldest units in Japan, providing
opportunities for children over six months of
age to receive painless operations under general
anesthesia without separating children from
their parents. The surgical procedures suitable
for the one-day surgery without hospitalization
are the operations that take less than one hour
in those patients who are not born prematurely
or with difficult problems, such as complex
heart diseases. Those who have had an attack of
asthma within two months are also not suitable
candidates. The patients with psychological
disorders that require surgical procedures
without separating them from their parents are
also recommended to use this unit.

- The main diseases compatible for this
day-surgery are inguinal hernia repair,
undescended testes repair, endoscopies,
removal of small superficial nodules,
circumcision, tubing of tympanic membrane for
otitis media, dental procedures or other
simple procedures taking less than one hour;

specialty to be booked for surgery.
- A family living quarters is available
for those parents who live far from our
hospital, so that the parents can now stay
with their children for most of the time
during the hospitalization or trasportation
costs and time.
